Would you like to elevate the sweet potato dish that we all know and love to new levels? We see a lot of more traditional versions this time of the year–you know the one I’m talking about with the sweet potatoes and marshmallows on top, right? I had an epiphany! I could make the marshmallow fluff on top and pipe it in a way to look like a gorgeous meringue topping. You have several options with this dish like leaving off the marshmallow fluff, buying marshmallow fluff, piping on the marshmallow fluff or simply spreading it on creating nice peaks.
In the fall, I begin feeling giddy. I love fall festivities, but I also know that Christmas is approaching. Decorating the house with Christmas decorations and making cookies fills the house with warmth. Even though I’m an adult, I feel that magical feeling of Christmas that I felt as a child. In this post you will discover our unique Christmas card, our Christmas dinner feast and table-cape, and our method to make cookies ahead of time.
We grow a serious amount of citrus in the Lam household. During both lemon and lime season, we’re continually scratching our heads to determine how we can use up all our citrus. My son is a budding entrepreneur; we thought it would be fitting to squeeze all the lemon juice and build a lemonade stand for him!
What theme, what theme, what theme? When contemplating which theme to have for my son’s 8th birthday party, we thought of many different options. My son proposed Captain Underpants. After I explained to my son that mommy goes WAY too far into a theme to have a Captain Underpants party, we ultimately decided on Mario. Evan and his dad like to play Mario games so the theme seemed appropriate. Evan and Daddy helped me with all the Mario questions, and when it was said and done, we picked well!
Oooooohhhhhhh, Monday!!! It’s the beginning of another week, and I’m getting back in the swing of my work as a blogger after a fun-filled weekend. In the middle of my social media marketing, a notification arrived from Lysa Humildad, Sagebrush Farm, NV blog. Much to my surprise, I read that exciting news that I have been selected for a Blogger Recognition Award! I felt so honored that Lysa would think of Food Flowers and Festivities, especially considering I’ve only launched two months ago!
I’m sure you’ve contemplated starting a blog for a long time. You have drooled over beautiful blogs that are established and thought to yourself, ‘hey I’d like to try that some day!’ You decide that you are not going to say some day one more time! You are going to go for it! You spend months perfecting the look of your blog, writing engaging content, and getting your site up and running. Now you’re ready to launch your blog, and NOW the work begins! It can be very overwhelming to know where to start promoting your blog. Below we have included some ideas to get you started on the right path.
It’s lime season at the Lam household which means lots of lime-aide, freshly squeezed lime to enhance our food, and yes, even limes in my flower arrangements! We have an AMAZING cocktail tree in the backyard. This tree has grafts of many citrus fruits in a single tree so you do not get a huge amount of each citrus when the season arrives. We get Meyer lemons, grapefruits, limes, and mandarin oranges all in one tree! Cool, right? If you live in a zone where you can grow citrus, I highly recommend this tree (I would say zone 7 or lower). Now for the flower arrangement; you could create this arrangement with Meyer lemons, fruits that are a little more cold hardy (would do ok in zone 8).
We have a Mario birthday party that’s just around the corner! We wanted to design shirts for both my boys, my husband, and me. Don’t you think it would be darling if the boys had shirts that read bros for life? Mom and Dad would have a super mom and super dad shirts that were appropriate for Super Mario Brothers. We did Mario-themed shirts here, but you could use the steps below to create any kind of shirt! We will show directions on how to create your own designs and how to make a shirt using a pre-made template or picture from the web.
I love a decadent treat as much as anyone else, but I also know that I cannot eat treats every day. Monday through Friday, I attempt to eat very clean and stick to my exercise schedule. I’m not a dietician or a personal trainer, but I have lost 60 pounds and have kept it off for a couple of years. Below you will find my favorite smoothie recipe that I have four mornings of each week.
I love a good party, but one year, I just felt a bit tired and overwhelmed. I’m sure that many moms can relate to this feeling, right? You still have your creative juices flowing, but this year the kids really kept me busy. As a family, we decided we were going to do something different for Evan’s birthday. We packed our bags and headed to Universal for my older son, Evan!
