Have you ever heard of aeroponic gardening? What if I told you that you could garden and never have to pick a weed or dig in the dirt? You can say good bye to all the tedious weeding and messy soil if you learn how to garden using aeroponics! I place my Tower Garden right by my back door of my house. In those hot summer months, I can easily go outside and pick herbs or lettuce for my meals.

Why do I grow my own produce when I can just buy it?
- It tastes SO much better than what I can purchase at the store!
- I can grow things that I can’t find at the store.
- I have the convenience of healthy organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs right at my back door.
- It is much less expensive in the long run (I’ve had my Tower Garden for over 6 years).
- It beats those pale pink tomatoes at the grocery store!
- Lettuce is more nutritious you eat it right after picking it.
- It is a really fun hobby!
I also do a lot of gardening in my backyard, but I have to say that the Tower Garden is the easiest kind of gardening I do (and the most accessible to everybody). You can even grow your Tower Garden inside with grow lights! If you’re missing your garden in the winter months, you can grow your garden inside.
The maintenance for the garden is easy. About once a week, I check the water in the bottom reservoir. You need to keep the water about 3 inches from the top (it helps to keep the Tower Garden by a hose). If the water goes below that level, I top it off with water and also add the liquid nutrients. The only other thing that you have to check is the pH about once a week.
My favorite things to grow in the Tower Garden:
- Lettuce and kale- Boston or Bibb lettuce which is great for salads, B-L-Ts, and so much more.
- Herbs- Thai basil, cinnamon basil, sage, cilantro, tarragon, thyme, parsley, Italian basil, chives, dill, oregano, and mint.
- Tomatoes- Especially black cherry tomatoes, valley girl tomatoes, and heirloom tomatoes.
- Vegetables- squash and squash blossoms, eggplant, bell peppers, cucumbers and celery.
- Fruits- strawberries and watermelon.
If you’re patient, you can grow plants from seeds in your rock wall cubes. I will grow from seeds if I want to grow something that is harder to find. If you’re impatient like me, you can get seedlings online and have produce in no time. I really like to use Living Tower Seedlings when I need new seedlings. Find unusual seeds at either Rare Seeds or Johnny’s Selected Seeds.
You can buy your Tower Garden, liquid nutrients, and pH test here. If you buy the growing kit, you will have everything you need to get started.
When do I replace my herbs and lettuce plants? The picture above shows you lettuce that has started to bolt. When this starts to happen, it is time to replace your lettuce. Bolting happens quickly in the hot summer months, especially if it is warm in the evenings. Make sure you pick the lettuce and herbs to keep them from getting too large.
This is my tomato plant. All of those lovely yellow flowers are soon to become tomatoes for B-L-Ts! Make sure that you trim your tomatoes back and trellis the plant against a wall. Tower Garden also sells a tomato cage that you can attach to the Garden.
