UP Party

April 25, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Years ago, we had the cutest little 1-year-old boy that loved doggies, balloons, and cartoons.  It was only fitting that we hosted an UP party to incorporate all these ideas together.  UP is a wonderful Pixar animated movie that is kid and family friendly.  We gathered up colorful balloons, dogs, and UP characters to showcase at the party.  Before you know it our house was moving UP!

The Invitation

Dogs, balloons, and a little boy!  We dressed our son as Russell, the little boy from UP.

Build excitement for your party by doing a clever invitation.  We thought it would be fun to make an airline ticket folder complete with a boarding pass.

The Color Scheme

We decided to use teal as our primary color and rainbow colors as secondary colors.  We used a party printable package similar to this one on Etsy.

The Cake

The Sugar Suite

We had so much fun designing this cake complete with the house from UP and the balloons that made it fly!  This cake was memorable because it was so unique.

We also served cupcakes with balloons to go with our theme.  Our guests could choose the flavor of cake they liked.

Often I will do a dessert table that displays the cake and other various goodies that go with my theme.

Warning!  DO NOT use your dog’s bowl for this treat!  After purchasing a NEW dog bowl we used a plastic chocolate mold, melting chocolate, and sweetened peanut butter to make peanut butter paw cups.  Remember, doggies don’t get any of this chocolate treat!

The Food

Along with the fruit and crackers we served a brie en croute.  Note the UP letters we used to finish it.  Access the details for this treat here.

Our caterer provided slider buns that we personalized with tiny branding irons.  You can find these branding irons in the Amazon link below.  The link is for the letter S but the branding irons come in many shapes, letters and pictures.

We like to find a local food caterers that we enjoy frequenting.  Here in the South, we have a lot of great bbq restaurant options.  For this party we ordered 4 Rivers Smokehouse, and our guests really enjoyed it!

Find a good quality lemonade and add fresh raspberries and fresh mint to the container.  Then add muddled (smashed) raspberries and fresh mint to the container.

Every event needs personalized apparel!  Use heat-activated transfer film made for your Cricut to incorporate your theme.  For this party we created customized t-shirts and bibs.  Learn how to make these t-shirts on Craftsy in this class.

The Decorations

Of course, we had balloons galore at this party!  We used printable sticker paper to put some of the images like this one on the balloon.

We made this balloon wreath by starting with a foam wreath ring.  Balloons were pinned to the foam wreath and a silver 1 cake topper finished the look.  We have similar supplies for this project below.

We found these FREE printables here and here.

The Entertainment

Mr. Richard sang wonderful kid songs.

The Favors

Guests picked out a stuffed dog or squirrel to take home with them.

When the guests arrived, they put their heads in the poster hole and took a picture.  We purchased a big sheet of plywood and cut a head-shaped oval in it.  We had a company print this large poster and then put it on top of plywood.

After printing the guests’ photos, we placed them in individual adventure books.

You can download the adventure books here.
